How do I point my domain name to my new account?

You will need to change your domain nameservers with your registrar (the company who registered your domain) to ns1.redstarnetwork.com and ns2.redstarnetwork.com (you must use both).

Browse the web site of the company you used to buy your domain name and log into their member area. Then look for an area in which you can change the current dns entry to our nameservers (ns1.redstarnetwork.com and ns2.redstarnetwork.com).

How long will it take before I can see my website?

Once you change your domain nameservers to ns1.redstarnetwork.com and ns2.redstarnetwork.com, it takes between 12-72 hours to resolve. Once your domain has resolved, you can view your web site using your domain name. In the meantime, you can still view your website by going to http://i.p.adress/~username/.

You can access your control panel by going to www.yourdomainname.com/cpanel. If your website has not yet resolved, you can get to your control panel by going to http://www.redstarnetwork.com/cpanel.

What happens if I exceed allotted diskspace/bandwidth?

Your diskspace is hard limited, meaning you cannot exceed the amount allotted to you. If you exceed your bandwidth allowance, your web site is temporarily shut down (for the remainder of the month). When you hit 80% of your monthly bandwidth allowance, you will be sent notification via email (given you have entered your email address into cPanel). At that time, you can choose to upgrade your plan to prevent your site from being temporarily shut down. To upgrade your plan click here.

One way to upload content to your account is through cPanel. Log on to cPanel by going to http://yourdomainname.com/cpanel (or http://www.redstarnetwork.com/cpanel if your domain has not resolved yet) and entering your username and password. You can then go to file manager, and upload your website's contents via the web.

Another way of transferring files to your account is by using an ftp program (e.g. WS_FTP LE, Cute FTP, etc). To log on, you would enter "yourdomainname.com" as host name (or the server ip address if your domain has not resolved yet), your account/user name as the user id/user name, and your password. Make sure you upload your website's content to the public_html folder.

Where can I find statisitcal information for my web site (e.g. How many hits my web is site getting)?

Log into your cPanel (www.yourdomainname.com/cpanel) and then click "Web/FTP Stats." From there you have a few options, based on the type of stats you want to see.
